The 2012 US Team Dream vs. The 1992 US Dream Team…

The 2012 US Team Dream vs. The 1992 US Dream Team…

There has been a lot of talk about the two teams and the similarities and differences class. But what I don’t understand is how people are even comparing the two teams in the 1st place. This is an utterly silly discussion if you ask me…

Lets 1st take a look at the current roster being lead by SG Kobe Bryant, SF Kevin Durant and 2012 NBA MVP LeBron James . They have a deep roster just not a big roster size wise with only one player over 6’10” on the entire team. And that’s center Tyson Chandler. But the big men that they do have are very athletic in SF Kevin Durant and PF Kevin Love and SF Carmelo Anthony. That gives this team a decided advantage in the defensive frontcourt being that these boys are big and can move. But they are very small in the back court PG Chris Paul (6-0) and PG Deron Williams (6-3)  and PG Russell Westbrook (6-3) are all very effective and very athletic but pale in comparison to what the Dream Team had in their Backcourt. But overall they can put up a good fight but I don’t think that they have what it takes…

Now lets take a look at the 1992 Dream Team this teams shortest competitor was PG John Stockton who stood 6’1” the backcourt consisted of SG Michael Jordon (6-6) SG Clyde Drexler (6-7) and PG Magic Johnson (6-9)  going alongside tiny John Stockton . The team consisted of 11 Hall of Famers  out of 12 players I count a maximum of 6 maybe 8 HOF’s on the current teams roster. But this team would definitely use their size to their advantage and pound and ground the current squad into submission. The only big advantage that the current roster would have would be speed and that would keep them in the game until late but in the 4th there would be no match for 3 of the greatest closers in Bball history and they would be run out of the building bya much better and more experienced team. Could the current roster hang in a one game playoff …Yes. Would they be able to win a game or two in a 7 game series …Yes. But would they be able to win a one game playoff…NO! Would they be able to win a 7 game series…NO!

So remember this kids no one can beat a team that has 7 hall of famers with out rigging the game or cheating . Todays lesson know whats going on before you open your mouth.  Till next time kids…Class is Dismissed…
