Welcome back to the classroom. Today we are going to go away
from the normal subject and we are going to talk about shoes. That’s right I said
shoes… the new LeBron shoes are coming out soon and they are going to be some
of the most expensive shoes to ever….and I mean ever hit the market…
Lets
start with the normal LeBron shoe that will be in the range of 175 dollars.
This unfortunately has become a standard range for superstar shoes (i.e. Jordan’s,
Carmelo’s ect..). This is a problem for me mainly because of the fact that
these players who provide their name for these shoes didn’t grow up wearing
$100+ to become the players that they became. But they are more than happy to
shovel these expensive shoes out to the youth of today and line their pocketbooks.
And I don’t blame them for that I would do the same. But when I am sitting
there and reading that the new LeBron shoe will run upwards of $300 for a
special version of the shoe that tracks how high you can jump and a bunch of
other metric stats that don t matter to people other than pro or colligate
basketball players. These shoes should not be available to anyone but those
people. Why you may say because in today’s economic climate. Regular people
cant afford shoes that expensive. Heck the Jordan’s that broke the $100 barrier
came out at a time of economic prospering and they were still WAY TOO EXPENSIVE
for a shoe. Yes I agree that these shoes definantly are better for your feet
than a standard shoe when playing bball. But are they truly worth the money we
are paying for them and in my opinion NO…they are not. I just fail to believe
that it even cost them 50% of what they charge the average consumer for these
shoe to make them. So the profitability of these shoes has got to be through
the roof. The reason why they are allowed to do this is because as a society we
have put a higher value as a society on the name of a popular athlete than we
do on the value of a dollar. So they will continue to hike up the prices and
the sheep will continue to pay thinking that these shoes will somehow make them
better ball players. But my stance is that I will never spend my money on one
of these ridiculously priced shoes.but for those of you who do… congrats you
just put more money in the pocket of a millionaire!! Hope your happy…
So
the lesson today kids is spend your money wisely and know what your buying! Bottom
line just make sure your you are getting your money worth out of every
situation. Take that lesson and run with it. Till next time…Class is dismissed…
