Welcome back students today we are going to discuss a
declaration that a Warriors player made after signing his new contract with the
team. That player is SG Brandon Rush and his declaration was that he was going
to be the starting Small Forward for the Golden State Warriors….
Now
this came as a shock to me considering the fact that I believe that the
Warriors signed him to be a two guard. And the Warriors just spent the #7 pick
on the SF of the future in the form of Harrison Barnes. Who showed tremendous
potential in the summer league. The Warriors also have proven veteran SF
Richard Jefferson competing for the starting position. But the question we ask
is dose he make sense at that position. Lets look 1st at size the
average size of a SF in the NBA is I believe 6’8”… Rush is 6’6” now this I think
can be compensated for by the fact that Rush is a great defender and can play
like a 6’9” guy if necessary... Rush will be quick enough and savy enough to
hang with the likes of Kevin Durant and Andre Igudala (now in Denver). The
Warriors also need a scorer at the three position. Rush can score not to the
almost 18-20 point avg that both Jefferson and Barnes offer. But he can get you
10-15 a game with starter minuets. But with the defense that he will provide
that scoring can be made up by Curry, Lee and Bogut who are all top scorers. So
dose he make sense yeah to me he dose. But will coach Jackson see things the
same way after training camp……
Well
students there will be a something to watch for this preseason in Golden State
as the battle for the three spot heats up!! Until the class is dismissed…
