Good Afternoon and Welcome students we are back again with
our preseason preview of the San Francisco 49ers. This game the 49ers didn’t come
out the gates gunning. But they didn’t look to shabby either. Alex didn't necessarily
look like the “expert” of the offense Coach Harbaugh proclaimed him to be. But
for now Alex just like the other 49er QB didn’t make any mistakes and that’s all
we can ask for now…
Score: Texans 20,
49ers 9…
Offense: B (Passing
Yards 149yrds, Rushing Yards 118yrds): The offense overall came out looking
good early putting up at least a FG in the 1st 3 Quarters. But as we
all know if you don’t score touchdowns you don’t win games. And in this game
the offense scored no touchdowns…
Quarterbacks: B- (J.Johnson
4/6 64yrds, A.Smith 5/9 49yrds): Just like in the 1st game the
QB’s did a decent job not making many mistakes. Actually in this game the
highlight of the QB core was the lack of mistakes made. No interceptions thrown
all game that is a beautiful thing…
Running Backs: B
(K.Hunter 6/46yrds, L.James 4/19yrds): The Running backs didn’t have nearly
as good of a day as they had in the 1st game of the preseason. But
they did exceptionally well against a good Texans 1st team defense.
Even while lacking 2 of their 4 head monster for this game…
Wide Receivers: B+
(R.Moss 3/24yrds, B.Tyms 2/20yrds): The WR’s in this game were one of the
rare bright spots. With Randy Moss getting involved and showing the younger Wide
outs how to run routes and proving that he belongs in the starting lineup. But
the competition for the WR depth chart is heating up…
Defense: C+ (Passing
Yards All. 160yrds, Rushing Yards All. 119yrds): The defense looked good
for missing one of their best linebackers (Smith) and a solid cornerback (Cox).
But these were not excuses for a squad that believes in the coach’s next man up
policy. And the backups stepped up to try to earn a spot on the 53 man roster
at a position where the 49ers need depth…
Overall: B-
