Welcome students today we are going to due a little reflection in what will be a weekly post here thru the football season. Game reviews will now be a part of every week. For the Preseason we will be doing just the Raiders and the 49ers games. But once the regular season starts we are going to be covering the Niners, Raiders, Chargers, Seahawks, Cardinals. The reviews will be very simple grades will be given to every skill position, offense, defense and overall team performance.  We will give stats and ratings so you can be sure to come back here every week to see what your favorite West Coast Team has been up to this past week. Well why don’t we get  right to it game #1 of this series is the 49ers against the Vikings in Candlestick park….

Score: 49ers 17, Vikings 6

Offense: A- (Passing yrds: 152yrds, Rushing yrds: 260yrds): The offense as a whole was very successful in this game considering the fact that neither of their new receiving toys were available or on the field the 1st team offense drove effortlessly down the field for the 1st TD of the game. I definintly like what I saw out of them hope it carries on into the regular season…

Quarterbacks: B+ (A.Smith 3/3 16yrds 1TD, S.Tolzien 10/13 84yrds 1int, C.Kapernick 5/9 40yrds 0TD’s): The Quarterback play in this game was great from incumbent starter Alex Smith to possibly 3rd string Scott Tolzien they all showed that they understand the fundamentals of Coach Harbaugh’s offense. Unfortunately the Niners will most likely only keep 3 of the 4 so one of these guys may be on the practice squad or may find themselves looking for another roster spot with a different team…

Running Backs: B (C.Kapernick  3/92yrds 1TD, A.Dixon 12/46yrds, R.Cartwright 8/44yrds): Now in this particular game the running backs as a whole did an amazing job. From LaMichael James blocking guys twice his size with ease. To Brandon Jacobs proving why he was a very smart pickup for the Niners with his explosive run early in the game. Even without star back Gore touching the ball they offense went for over 200 yards rushing against the Vikings…

Wide Receivers: C+ (K.Reuland 2/17yrds, B.Swain 1/4yrds 1TD, K.Williams 2/12yrds): The receivers in this game performed admirably but didn’t have considering that most of the game plan was centered  around the running game. Although they didn’t have their most high profile player involved in any of the major plays involving the passing offense. So that’s why they only received a C+…

Defense: B+ (E.Bakhtiari 4T,2S, P.Cox 3T,1INT, L.Grant 3T):  Ill just say this 6 points that’s all the defense allowed to any Vikings offense on the field. This 49ers team is very talented on the defensive side of the ball. They don’t carry a lot of household names but this Defense has a lot of contributing players. Although there was one down point in the fact that LB Aldon Smith may be out for the rest of the preseason with a hip injury. But like I said they are a very dep team and should be able to survive until Aldon can get back on the field…

Overall: B -
