Preseason Week 1: Oakland Raiders vs Dallas Cowboys….

Welcome back students this week we are going to talk about what barley passed as a professional football game. Last Monday night the Raiders and Cowboys were scheduled to play a preseason football game at the Coliseum in Oakland. The game started out great with RB McFadden looked like his old self. But the 2 teams only combined for 455 yards of total offense that Is just sad. So I won’t talk too much about the game itself and we will get into the grades…

Score: Cowboys 3, Raiders 0

Offense: C+ ( Passing yrds: 181yrds, Rushing yrds: 89yrds): The offense overall started out strong but just got worse as time went on. In one particular drive the Raiders were gifted 3 1st downs on Cowboys mistakes. And it only resulted in them punting again. There were some bright spots for them in this game but definitely not the strongest performance…

Quarterbacks: C+ (M.Leinart 11/16 98yrds, C.Palmer 3/6 33yrds): Carson Palmer came out looking good even with a struggling Receiver cor. Leinart looked like a pro in his time out there and Pryor looked good too and shows a bright future with the team. But overall no scoreboard production at the end of the day. That’s why the low grade….

Running Backs: B (L.Miller 15/39yrds, D.McFadden 2/20yrds): The Incumbent and often injured starter McFadden looked great in limited action. And his eventual #2 Miller looked really good too! But overall the running backs didn’t produce for the offense either. But there are some good things that will come from this group…

Wide Receivers: B+ (R.Streater 6/66yrds, L.Miller 3/23yrds): Now this was a bright spot from the standpoint that their top receiver was a backup of a backup. Jacoby Ford had a couple of critical drops against a weak Dallas secondary as we got deep into the game. But overall they under performed and didn’t live up to a lot of the hype as far as I was concerned…

Defense: C+ (D.Hamilton 3T,1S,1FF, M.Mitchell 2T,1INT): The defense performed admirably considering the fact that the offense that they lined up against played a very sloppy game as well. But there were plenty of bright spots for the defense making plays against the 2nd and 3rd teamd defenses of the Cowboys. But the defense did well despite the circumstances….

Overall: B-
