Well students we are now back to the NFL preview the Chargers
were a 8-8 team last season good enough for them to tie for the AFC West lead
but not give them a division title. Unfortunately the Denver Bronco’s and their
High profile QB Tim Tebow (now of the Jets) got in and went on to beat the
Steelers in the 1st round. But back to the Chargers who showed some
sign of life early in the season starting 4-1 only to finish the season 4-7 and
out of the playoffs. So here we are with another season of hope for the Chargers
in a wide open AFC West…
Quarterback :(
Projected 2012-13 Starter: QB Phillip Rivers): With Rivers basically having
the worst statistical year of his career. The Chargers definitely will see
improvement out of the multi time Pro-Bowl QB. This is Phillips team and will
be until he retires but can he bounce back from all the INT’s he threw last
year. For one I think so and expect to see the QB back in the Pro Bowl at the
end os the season…
Runningback:
(Projected 2012-13 Starters: RB Ryan Matthews, RB Ronnie Brown): Well im
going to start out by saying this. I know that Matthews is out for at least 4-6
weeks with a broken collarbone. So most likely starting duties will be split
between Le’Ron McClain and Ronnie Brown till he gets back. Now on paper this
looks like a strong back core. But understand that both Brown and McClain both
are new to Rivera’s system so don’t expect much production out of them. But
they should be able to give them something to work with until Matthews can get
back…
Wide Receiver/Tight
End: (Projected 2012-13 Starters: WR1 Malcom Floyd, WR2 Robert Meacham, TE
Antonio Gates): The loss of Vincent
Jackson from this starting lineup will be felt as the Chargers will have to
lean on the RB’s a little bit more this season. But they did get themselves a
nice and serviceable replacement in Robert Meacham. But with Antonio Gates
still starting at TE Phillip will still have one of his favorite vertical
targets to throw to this season…
Offensive Line:(Projected
2012-13 Starters: LT J.Gaither,LG T.Green, C N.Hardwick, RG L.Vasquez, RT
J.Clary): With the obismal season that the O-Line had protecting Phillip
Rivers last season the Chargers and the veteran offensive line. They should be
able to keep him upright long enough to avoid having as bad of a season as last
year so look for better results from the o-line this season as they look to get
back to the playoffs…
Well
kids this team looks like they are going to have a though climb to get back to the
postseason. I know I wont personally be rooting for them but I will be hoping
that they can get back in because its another West Coast team in the hunt for
the big one. Till then…Class is dismissed…
