2012-13 Season Outlooks for the San Francisco 49ers…
Welcome class and after that small break we are going to begin to take a look at the upcoming NFL season for 2012. This will be a week to week thing so be prepared to take notes we may not cover a new team daily. But as for today we are going to start our series with the San Francisco 49ers. Who just happen to be the defending NFC West champs.
After coming so close to a 6th Super Bowl appearance the 49ers will definitely be hungry coming into this new season. And lead by a man like Jim Harbaugh the 49ers are almost guaranteed to get better in the next season. The 49ers were a 13-3 team lead by a QB with something to prove. He felt as if he had been looked over…And he was with good reason! He hadn’t produced anything better than an average season for his entire career and he had a coach that understood how to teach him to make the best of what he had. Alex Smith had found his Gary Payton in Jim Harbaugh. Then Alex plays an excellent season that most Niner fans would like to see him duplicated maybe with a little better job on 3rd downs. Then there was Frank Gore who had a revival season as Kendall hunter and Anthony Dixon helped him stay fresh and healthy but good ol Jim made sure to call some excellent plays to set Gore up for success. This season Gore will have two more backs to compete for carries with in Rookie LaMichael James and Brandon Jacobs who will sure have an impact on the offense. There are now only 2 names left on my list of very important players this season. Randy Moss and Mario Manningham are going to be the guys under the most pressure to come out and perform they were both brought in to improve a very injured and anemic passing offense this season so keep an eye on these two! (and the Alex Smith/Randy Moss combo should pay dividends for fantasy owners!!)
Now I will move on to the offensive line.  An offensive line that didn’t really due to much bad last year Alex was well protected all season. They weren’t perfect but they got the job done. Even though we lost Adam Snyder the drafting of Joe Looney shows that they wanted to improve at the guard position. And they did… now in their 2nd season together the core of Iupati, Staley, Goodwin, Davis are back together again likely to be joined by Alex Boone. The offense seems to have made all the right moves this offseason to address the holes that they had at WR and RB.
So that is all for today class we will discuss the 49ers improvements on defense tomorrow till the class is dismissed…
